Adventure, Spanish and Service- June 2014

 Live the Language

Spanish, Service and Adventure in Costa Rica- Now Planning for June 2014

Attention Spanish students and teachers: Hike in a cloud forest, visit a pristine beach and/or climb to overlook a volcano. Practice your Spanish and meet new friends while making a contribution to a Costa Rican community.

This adventure is offered to those with at least a year of Spanish study, or equivalent knowledge. During the school week we will be housed in the homes of selected Costa Rican families. Parents or older siblings may join us. Students who opt to come should be mature and cooperative. *

Small groups will work with experienced Costa Rican teachers in and out of the classroom. The second half of the week day will be an immersion in family and community. You might see: a capuchin monkey, a sloth, an active volcano, a toucan in the wild, an iguana, humming birds, a poison-arrow frog, or a morpho butterfly.  You WILL see life as it is really lived by Costa Ricans today, not only as a tourist sees it.

Current estimated cost is $920 per week plus airfare. This will cover lodging, at least two meals daily and laundry during the week, classes, transportation, lodging and entrance fees to weekend activities/trips. Some food and optional outings will be the responsibility of the student.

The trip (now in its 5th year) is coordinated by Lynn Hazen, Spanish teacher at Kanapaha Middle School, assisted by two high school-aged daughters who are veterans of Costa Rican travel. We suggest flying out of Orlando. Airfare is currently at around $300, but can go up at any moment, so if you are interested please contact me immediately.  A nonrefundable $100 deposit will hold your place. Call now! (352) 339-6060 after 3:30.

* I will ask for a reference for students I have not taught.
